I am a published writer and want to write for teenagers. I don't want to copy Twilight or Gossip Girls. What subjects or kinds of characters involving teenagers would you like to see dealt with in a novel? Did you like Jodi Picoult's books or The Lovely Bones type of book?I want to write fiction for teenagers. What do you want to read about?
Jodi Piccoult's books are great, Lovely Bones not so much. I'm into Sci-fi but less hard core Science fiction. More... girly? I geuss, not exactly though, kind of like the Uglies series by Scott Westerfield or The Host by Stephenie Meyer.
also, are you writing for girls or guys? because that changes everything, guys, as another answerer demonstrated, would be far more interested in reading a graphic discription of someone losing a finger. While girls... not so much.I want to write fiction for teenagers. What do you want to read about?
I like a lot of mystery and some horror books.
Right now I'm reading the Clique series and the Pretty Little Liars series. I've read Twilight, Harry Potter, and the Uglies series.
I like vampires, but that has been done a lot. I also like stories that teenagers can relate to. Like, and this is a bit of a stretch, A Child Called It. I'm not abused nor have I been, but I can sympathize with Dave.
Maybe you could write a good romance novel or one that makes you cry. Or even one that makes you laugh. I like to laugh. Or even a really good murder mystery with lots of plot twists that keeps me on the edge of my seat.
I personally like stuff that can't happen but around the present and injuries and death make it seem like it's more suspenseful because the reader will know that you are willing to kill a character. And add a lot of detail make the main character lose a finger or something that will really get the readers attention.
you should read lois lowry like the giver and gathering blue and then use those ideas to write your own book.
theyre great books with out-of-sight topics, and just because you use someone else's idea it doesnt mean it won't be original.

i liked jodi picoult's books a lot
science fiction/fantasy is popular but not the alien type
futuristic stories are cool
and don't forget to include some romance!!
Do something about there is 3 friends. 1 of them has to move and then all this bad stuff happens to them, and then the 1 who moved gets sick of it and runs away and goes back and stays with her friends.
I feel sorry for daizyh. Every editor I know says they are sick of dragons and throw all dragon manuscripts in the rubbish. Sorry!
I like supernatural-everyday fiction, like Meg Cabot's the Mediator series. Along those lines of her writing, like 'Jinx' or '1-800-WHERE-R-U' Happy writings.

Do at one point in time teenagers end up hating their parents?
I dislike them to a point of I'm ready to move out, but I was just wondering if I'm not the only one.Do at one point in time teenagers end up hating their parents?
Ya because you are growing up. You are starting to have your own views of life now.. You are wanting to get out and take control of your life.. Its a good thing in a way. Just dont let the feeling become negative and ruin your relationship.. Just move out or tell them you need some space..Do at one point in time teenagers end up hating their parents?
Teenagers are always like that. That is is caused by the transition period between kids and adults. Sometimes teenagers wants to be treated like an adult but there are also times when they want to be treated like kids. Parents sometimes need to be patient to this swing of moods. You need to understand your parents too. The best for you to do is explain what you want and understand why you cannot get what you want. Running away from home is not the solution.

All kids hate their parents at one point in time. Your parents only want whats good for you and you want to do things that they feel aren't good for you. If your parents didn't care, then you would only hate them later :)

I dont wanna sound old fashioned, but I like girls the most when they have the appearance of having morals, standards, and cleanliness... for obvious reasons. It makes me feel more accomplished for dating them! Who wants to date somebody who has low morals and who cusses all the time?

';Swearing is the crutch for the crippled intellectual.';
It doesn't bother me at all. They're just words. My wife and I cuss up a storm. Those who don't like it can step the phukk off, lol.
I don't think it is right to be cussing a lot. It just means u can not think of anything intelligent to say so u just express it by cussing.
cursing is an ignorant persons way of expressing themselfs.. but sometimes you cant help it d** it!.

There are plenty of things for you guys to do. A trip to Fanuel Hall Market is always a good place to start. It's located in the north end where you'll find great shopping and great food. You could make your way to the Boston Common park where there's always things to do such as the Swan Boats. If shopping is your thing you could try Newbury Street as well as Copley Square. You can try making a reservation on the Boston Duck Tours. They give you a great tour of different tourist spots in the city and tickets aren't that expensive either.What is really fun for three teenagers to do in boston?
Try to catch a show by The Blue Men Group. They are always playing out there.
A Sox game at Fenway is definately the way to go. Awesome atmosphere. Don't be afraid to get bleacher seats if you can.

This is an extremely good book. It's hard to explain but it's about the future, after mankind basically destroyed the earth (global warming, destroying forests, polluting the ocean, etc) survivors made a new society where there's no argueing, war, etc. Everyone is considered ';ugly'; until they turn 16 and have this sugery that makes them ';pretty'; and they move to this part of town where all they do is have fun and party all day and night. Tally, the main character cant wait to turn pretty. She meets Shay who's a rebal and convinces Tally to leave the city for a night to see what's out in the wilderness. Tally learns all kinds of things about being pretty and the truth is.. it's not really pretty. EXTREMELY good, and the sequals (Pretties, Specials) are even better. It's full of adventures, cool technologies, romance, etc. There's also a fourth book from another perspective and it's set in Japan called Extras.

This book is also set in the future and is extremely intense like you're actually in the book. It's setting is in Panem, a city that's now in what's left of North America (which has become smaller after global warming and melting of the ice caps). Surrounding Panem are 12 districts where each year, one boy and girl between the ages of 12 and 18 are chosen to be in the Hunger Games where they are put into an arena and battle each other and try to survive until there's only one left and is the winner. There's also romance in it and gets kind of sad. I cried at one point. haha but it's really good. Stephanie Meyers, author of Twilight, even recommended it.
Deadly Little Secrets by Laurie Stolarz
It's the first of it's series and is also really good. It's about a girl named Camelia who lives a normal life - dating, has friends, decent grades. But, one day when she was picking an earing that she dropped crossing the street, a car was coming towards her and it wasn't stopping. Suddenly, a hot guy shoves her out of the way, saving her life. He left without her saying thank you or asking what his name was. Three months later, she's starting her junior year in high school and there's this rumor about a new guy named Ben who supposedly killed his girlfriend. Camelia doesn't believe in rumors and when she sees Ben, it's the guy who saved her life. She tries to talk to him but he ignores her at first, but later Ben begins touching her weirdly but Camilia only gets more drawn to him. She later finds out he's not ordinary. He can know the future or past of a person by touching a person and he senses that Camelia's in great danger. Really intense but good with a twisted love triangle.
I've read twilight and loved it but i thought these books were almost as good or even better.
Other books I've heard were good and planning to read is Need by Carrie Jones, Evernight by Claudia Gray, Lament by Maggie Stiefvater, Beastley by Alex Flinn, Old Magic by Marianne Curley, Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin, the Blue is for Nightmares series by Laurie Stolarz, and Evermore by Alyson Noel (coming out in February)What are some good books for teenagers?
