Why do teenagers hate waking up so early in the morning?

i'm a teenager too, i slept at 9pm -6am for school, but still i feel so sleepy. and why do others sleep at midnight or so, and always complain about early morning, when they have a lot of time to do homework, and chores, and get some sleep. this is for my project for persuasive paper about this controversy. i want a lot of opinions to anyone. pls help. Why do teenagers hate waking up so early in the morning?
I don't believe its getting up early. I think its knowing what your waking up for. I mean, if you were waking up early to go to a party you'd be up out of bed, but for school, you'd rather sleep. Why do teenagers hate waking up so early in the morning?
the instinctual pattern of sleep for a human is around 3AM to 11AM

It takes a very long time to adapt to the 11PM-6AM sleep schedule that people must follow
Here's a good article.
I have heard that the internal clock of an adolescent does not Fully wake up until 11 Am..

Why do teenagers feel the need to use internet jargon all the time?

I honestly can't understand it.

I had a high school girl come up to me and say, and I quote, ';Omg I love your nose ring! Where did you get it, JW?';

I almost punted her out the window.

Anyone have any thoughts about this? Why do teenagers feel the need to use internet jargon all the time?
lol idk 鈥?-/a鈥?15 50 \^/312[) lmaoWhy do teenagers feel the need to use internet jargon all the time?

Because teenagers do not understand how to speak genuine English.
They're so socially focused (texting, myspace) they start using the language.I'm 14 and it annoys the hell out of me when kids do that.
that girls an idiot.
idk! lol
it's new age slang .. every one has it for there time frame
You say ';teenagers'; like it's all of us...
I don't do that... never heard any of my friends do it, either.

    Teenagers?

When I was young I gave my mom so much grief by cutting school %26amp; hanging out with the wrong kids. Now I have a 14 year old daughter who I expected to do the same. But she really cares about her grades which I'm grateful for, but she doesn't like going out with her friends on the weekends. Don't most teenagers try %26amp; get out of their house as much as possible. I'm not in the best of health so I think she doesn't want to leave me. How do I convince her that it's ok for her to have a life of her own %26amp; not worry about me all the time.I'm so grateful to have a daughter like this but I feel like I'm holding her back from the things that teenagers doTeenagers?
im a teenager right now. %26amp;%26amp; i no ur probably expecting an adult to answer you but im experiencing teenage years at the moment. i totally know where ur coming from with the whole not knowing why she doesnt want to hanggout with friends %26amp;%26amp; etc. but if ur in bad health she probably thinks that the day she decides to go out with people is the day that something will go wrong. i think the problem is that she is a little insecure. she probably number one doesnt want to get in trouble with you in bad shape and all and number 2 probably feels bad about leaving you here alone when in these comditions.i understand that you feel you are holding her back. i am extremely sorry that you feel that way but i think if my mother was in ur state of conditions i would feel bad about leaving her too. so i defintly agree with your thought of her not wanting to leave you. she probably also doesnt want to put pressure on you if ur in bad health. she probably only wants the best for you and i know that u only want the best for her also. If she has a lot of friends or peers that she hangs aruond be grateful for that. because its the wurst feeling in the world to feel as if u dont have any friends. but i think shes trying to ake you her main focus instead of her friends and social life... im sorry if i didnt answer your question. but i tryed!

try to be thankful though for the relationship tha you two have just try to have fun with her when you are with. because when your gone or when shes gone your gonna regret it if you guys werent close. believe me. so just try to enjoy her %26amp;%26amp; enjoy that shes around instead of seeming like you wanna push her away. the best of luck too you...鈾?br>

    鈾egards...c.n.t.Teenagers?
have you tryed telling her to invite her friends over, or maybe even telling her than she can have a party. when she does she will realize that you want her to have fun and that she enjoys having fun with her friends.

i was never like that as a teenager either. we shouldn't stereotype.
give her a chance to figure it out but if doe'nt tell her or growned her!
I think each person's character is different ,so her life style also different with other peoples, your daughter is a introversion's girl, if she feel enjoy I think is OK.
let her know exactly what you said here, tell her that you appreciate her loyalty to you, but that you do not want to be a burden on her and want her to have friends--see them and have fun. Perhaps you are reading too much into this and she is really a home-body who enjoys the company of family, afterall there's nothing wrong with a family oriented person. :)
no not everyone is like that there are some good and bad kids, God created good and evil
She'll go out with her friends as time passes. Maybe she is just not ready yet (shy or not sure what to expect)
Sit down and talk with her. Ask her what kinds of thigs she likes to do. She may just be the type of person that likes to stay home. My daughter is.

    Hope you feel better soon.
That is really sweet. What a nice daughter! That being said, I think you're right. She needs to be a teenager. Maybe just talking to her about her concerns would help. If not, then maybe you could find a friend to hang out with sometimes and she would feel better leaving you with a friend than alone.
She's a late bloomer, I think. Just explain to her heart to heart that she can enjoy her life without worrying about her mother. Dont preassure her to go, though. Just slightly encourage her, but, she'll hate it if you nag. Good Luck!
first of all good luck with your health, just pray....

and be happy you have a great daughter comparing to this crazy girls out there so sleezy and dirty even starting with 12 its horrible of course she has to have contact with people why dont you invite one of her friends over or a girl from school

maybe you could have a conversation with the girls parents to invite her over like a little setup not in a bad way but just to get her out a bit

organize a little get together with the people she likes or you think would fit her.

    good luck and get better
Not every 14 year old is wild , and they shouldn't be . Count your blessings and let her know you appreciate and love her.Gods' Grace made her who she is , for reasons we don't question.
tell her that you can go out with your friends and have fun and that you dont have to be in the house all the time . just to be safe always
list of all, cherish the fact that she cares. It is never too much for someone to care and give time, love, and attention. My Dad has been very ill,(my step-Dad, Dad none-the-less) and it has been worrying me because there is so much distance between us. Just be grateful that you have someone close by who cares.
atfirst tell her if she wants to go out your having company over that mite be a start then she mite not be so worried about you you have a doll she love her mom
Tell her what you just wrote here except for the I'm holding her back part
Why are you pushing her to go and hang out? You should be thanking yr lucky stars to have a daughter like that! Smile, MOM!

    Teenagers!?

My son has finished his exams, he is 16 and has now left school. What do you think is the best time for him to be allowed out till? He says all his friends have to be in at 11pm on weekdays and 12ish on weekends. I dont know what to suggest as an appropriate time.At the moment he has to be in about 10-10.30pm. Any ideas to keep a happy stress free home?Teenagers!?
He is being pretty accurate at what his friends say, so I think you can trust him, because he did not exagerate them!

I'm a father and those were the time guidelines I allowed!

    BRTeenagers!?
I'm 14 and my curfew is 11:30 on both weekdays and weekends! He might like that because he can be out later than his friends for 4or5 of the days even though 2or3 of the days he's in a little bit earlier! I also earn 3 points everytime i make curfew by atleast 10 minutes and when i earn 30 points i get my curfew extended a half hour on a day of my choice!
Just hanging around he needs to be in at 11 no matter what day it is.

Party or special events no later than the hour of midnight, except if there is a prior arrangement made. Does he carry a cell phone ? Probably check in at 11. This is not to make him feel like a baby, but for his safety these days. Again the times depend on where you live. You don't want him getting in with the wrong crowd. The wrong crowds are usually the ones out past 12.
I think 11 is late for school days. He shouldn't be allowed out every day of the week. Tell him he can be in by ten weekdays. His drivers liscense is probably limited to 1am. So make sure he is always in by then. I'd say 12:30 is a good curfew if he is well behaved. I would start out at midnight for weekends. Tell him if he is late even once, no excuses, it will be lowered 30 min each time. If he goes a month with out breaking it you will raise it to 12:30, and if he goes 6 months, 1am. Make sure you always know where he is and who he's with. 16yr old kids can get into a lot of trouble.
11-12 is good for me, unless there's a party I want to go to, then I like to go in at like 2am. I'm 14 by the way, so for him, maybe a little more.

    Hope I helped.
    Ask yourself how mature YOU think he is. If you let him stay out as late as his friends, can you trust him not to stay out later? I'd also want to verify that his friends are actually allowed to stay out that late -- by calling their parents and asking them directly. Teenagers tend to say ';but all my friends are allowed to do this, why can't I?';

My mother always checked with my friends' PARENTS instead of taking my word for it.
OK this is what to do, first you check the town curfew then from that you see if your kid is behaving well and if they are then you can let them stay out later about a half hour. but you tell him that if he does somthing wrong he will go back to the original time he had. you can keep adding on 30 minutes if he is good untill you get to the towns curfew. he can also come home late andcome in as much as he was late the next day.

    i hope that help!
I would say if you can trust him bring it to 11:00 and see how that goes.I would still want him to check in at this time of night. then in crease it again in a couple of weeks as long as he is still taking care of his stuff. I woulndn't do something just because everyoe else is doing it. You have a lot of parents that dont have a clue where there kids are. Good luck
Well it depends on where you live but 10-10:30 sounds good to me.
I didn't exactly have a curfew but the time I was to be home depended on what I was doing. I may be old fashioned or overprotective here but I wouldn't just let my kid leave and not know where he/she is going. I think making a 16 year old go to bed at 10 or 10:30 when he's not in school is overkill. Even if he has to be home by 10 or 10:30 I'd let him stay up later.
I believe he needs to be in at 11 on weekdays and 12:00 or 1:00 on the weekends
Oh God 10!!! Him staying out until 11-12 is reasonable. I never had a curfew but my parents did insisit on me being home at the latest around 1 am. I respected it and was home by 12:30 unless something came up then I called them.

Does anyone know of any summer jobs for teenagers?

My children want money all the time, and are constanly bored, so a job would give them both money, and something to do. They are ages 13, and 15.Does anyone know of any summer jobs for teenagers?
My brother and I help out neighbors.

we wash window, walk dogs, mow lawn, clean up a bit, babysit.

were also planning on doing a garage sale/lemonade and cookie stand soon to earn some extra cash for the summer.

maybe have them ask neighbors if they need any help?

or you could just pay them to do extra chores around the house (clean house, kids earning money) everyone gets happy on that one! =)Does anyone know of any summer jobs for teenagers?
Here's a short list of summer jobs which you can create to generate income:

    1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.

    2. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.

    3. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.

    4. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.

    5. Visit your nearest beauty salon and ask to be trained as a shampoo person who is also willing to sweep up fallen hair on the ground and do set ups [arranging dye kits, curler holders, etc.] for a set hourly fee.

    6. Become a sign flipper by contacting your nearest realtor. A flipper is someone who stands at a major intersection and flips a ';For Lease/Rental'; sign in order to attract visitors to an open house or to a particular real estate listing. The hourly pay is at least the minimum wage.

    7. Become a stand-in-line person for a ticket purchasing agency at various entertainment venues, i.e., theatres, forums, concert sites which involves getting up early and standing in line for the later appearance of a ticket agent who purchases top of the line tickets for a particular popular concert. It requires having access to a cell-phone to notify the ticket agent when your queing number comes up. So, call up you local independent ticket sales agency and offer your services for a fixed hourly fee.

    Good luck!

What good sort of diets is there for teenagers.....?

I heard going on diets like adults do isn't good for teenagers. So what one is suitable for a teenager? Besides the whole 'eat healthy and excersize right' thing. What good sort of diets is there for teenagers.....?
Teenagers' diets should sustain growth and promote good health. During this time, a number of physiological changes occur that affect nutritional needs, including rapid growth and considerable gains in bone and muscle (especially in boys). This is also a time when teenagers begin to develop real independence from their parents, including making decisions about the food they eat. Teenagers often choose food in response to peer pressure or as an act of defiance against parents. It's not all bad news, as there are many opportunities to encourage healthy dietary habits in teenagers, particularly when relating good food choices to sporting or physical prowess. Ensure there are plenty of healthy options available at home for healthy meals and snacks.

    Nutrition

The National Diet and Nutrition Survey of Young People Aged 4-18 Years provides detailed information on the nutritional intake and physical activity levels of young people in the UK. .

The findings reveal average consumption of saturated fat, sugar and salt is too high, while that of starchy carbohydrates and fibre is low. During the seven-day recording period, more than half the young people surveyed hadn't eaten any citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables (such as cabbage or broccoli), eggs or raw tomatoes. The survey also showed that one in ten teenagers have very low intakes of vitamin A, magnesium, zinc and potassium. Intake of iron and calcium was also below ideal levels among many of the teenagers. Meanwhile the rising levels of obesity suggest many young people are eating too many calories.

    Iron deficiency

Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in the UK. In the National Diet and Nutrition Survey, up to 13 per cent of teenage boys and 27 per cent of girls were found to have low iron stores. Rapid growth, coupled with a fast lifestyle and poor dietary choices, can result in iron-deficiency anaemia. Teenage girls need to take particular care because their iron stores are depleted each month following menstruation.

The main dietary source of iron is red meat, but there are lots of non-meat sources, too, including fortified breakfast cereals, dried fruit, bread and green leafy vegetables. The body doesn't absorb iron quite as easily from non-meat sources, but you can enhance absorption by combining them with a food rich in vitamin C (found in citrus fruits, blackcurrants and green leafy vegetables). In contrast, tannins found in tea reduce the absorption of iron, so it's better to have a glass of orange juice with your breakfast cereal than a cup of tea.

    Calcium deficiency

The survey also highlighted that 25 per cent of teens had a calcium intake below the recommended level, which has serious implications for their future bone health.

Osteoporosis is a disease that causes bones to become brittle and break very easily. Bones continue to grow and strengthen until the age of 30, and the teenage years are very important to this development. Vitamin D, calcium and phosphorous are vital for this process, with calcium requirements for the teenage years ranging from 800mg to 1,000mg per day.

Calcium-rich foods should be consumed every day. The richest source of calcium in most people's diet is milk and dairy products. Encourage your teenager to eat two to three portions of dairy food each day 鈥?for example, a glass of milk, a 150g pot of yoghurt and a small matchbox-sized piece of cheese. If your teenager doesn鈥檛 eat dairy products, try fortified soya milk. Dairy foods are often avoided by teenage girls because of concerns about fat content. Low-fat dairy foods are equally rich in calcium, so providing these versions to aid consumption can be helpful.

    Foods to choose

Adolescence is a time of rapid growth, and the primary dietary need is for energy - often reflected in a voracious appetite. Ideally, foods in the diet should be rich in energy and nutrients. Providing calories in the form of sugary or fatty snacks can mean nutrient intake is compromised, so teenagers should be encouraged to choose a variety of foods from the other basic food groups:

Plenty of starchy carbohydrates - bread, rice, pasta, breakfast cereals, chapattis, couscous and potatoes

Plenty of fruit and vegetables - at least five portions every day

Two to three portions of dairy products, such as milk, yoghurt, fromage frais and pasteurised cheeses

Two servings of protein, such as meat, fish, eggs, beans and pulses

    Not too many fatty foods

    Limit sugar-rich food and drinks

Other important dietary habits to follow during adolescence include:

Drink at least eight glasses of fluid a day.

Eat regular meals, including breakfast, as it can provide essential nutrients and improve concentration in the mornings. Choose a fortified breakfast cereal with semi-skimmed milk and a glass of fruit juice.

Take regular exercise, which is important for overall fitness and cardiovascular health, as well as bone development.

    Hope this helps

  • Why are teenagers so into their mybooks and facespaces?

All my granddaughter does is mybook facespace and twatter. I don't understand why it is so hip! It makes no sense, why don't they just write an old fashioned letter to their friends? ;) It worked for me!!!!Why are teenagers so into their mybooks and facespaces?
First off; ITS; Myspace, Facebook, %26amp; Twitter.

%26amp; Because it's a good way to talk to your friends %26amp; It's faster than the hole letter thinggg(:Why are teenagers so into their mybooks and facespaces?
hey hey we use it cuz its easier and its alot more fun than writing a letter we get enough writing in school typing is easier for us now
Are you trying to be funny? Or do you just not have a clue?
    U gud troll Joey.

Twatter was a good one though, I must say.

Why did teenagers run away to join the army during the civil war?

The south did for the cause %26amp; adventure (many thought the war would end in a short time) some for the pay - which wasn't much BTW. The north for the same reasons until the inscription act was enforced - then they had no choice. Why did teenagers run away to join the army during the civil war?
    Southern or Northern teenagers ?

each side had it's own reasons. Why did teenagers run away to join the army during the civil war?
Because of many things, such as the pressure from others. Also it pay good..
Because they believed in what they were fighting for.
    They believed in the cause.
because they were stronger then their parents! ooorah
They believed in their cause . To Glory .

Why were teenagers so boring back in the olden days?

like today i read that during the 1940s girls who were 14! played hopscotch and skipping rope! (how immature)

even worse i read that boys who were 16 swam in lakes, climbed trees and rose bikes - why did teens act like little kids back then? Why were teenagers so boring back in the olden days?
Probably, the main reason is that the average age of puberty was higher back then. Nowadays, we have kids reaching puberty as early as 10 and that obviously means that they will have more mature interests as teens, which will affect their behavior. Why were teenagers so boring back in the olden days?
Probably because they WERE little kids. They didn't have the media's standards to live by and they weren't being corrupted. Just like when parents today keep young kids from watching people have sex on t.v. THOSE kids are still playing hopscotch. It wasn't immature back then because thats what they knew, they didn't have video games, cars, malls, and all that to make them feel like they had to grow up faster. Teens nowadays feel like they have to grow up as fast as they can. Back then they weren't pressured like that.

And btw, why is swimming in lakes, climbing trees and riding bikes a kid thing? im 17 and me and my bf and our group of friends went to swim in a river almost every day in the summer. Its friggin fun. And wether you want to beleive it or not, many teenage boys still do that stuff with their other guy friends all the time.

I think your being arrogent. Every year kids grow up faster than the year before. And in my opinion its a bad thing. Kids at age 10 are doing things thier siblings didn't try till highschool. It's horrible. Teens need to learn how to have fun OUTSIDE as well as at party's and what not. Drinkin, partying, going to the mall, riding around are not the ONLY ways to have fun.

    Open your mind a little
Because they were kids. And teens today are still kids, but much more immature than the kids of the 1940s and later. Kids then knew how to act. Teens today try to act like grownups when they really have no idea how to be grown up, and just make themselves look more immature by trying to be something they are not.
They didn't act like little kids...they acted their ages...they enjoyed the innocent things in life, and rather than trying to be adults, they enjoyed what was left of their childhood. It's better than the 'games' teens are into nowadays like 'sexting', underage drinking, drug use, etc...teens today are in a downward spiral if you ask me.
Because, unlike many teens today, we actually had some morals about us. Believe me, this out - of - control immorality that's so prevalent today is eventually going to destroy America. You make me sorry that my dad fought in a war to keep the likes of you free. And just remember that...
You mean like pushing hoops with a stick, racing box carts, and riding in jalopy's and dancing in malt shops? At least they didn't waste their time staring at tiny screens and pushing buttons all day. Don't forget all that activity made them fit to fight so we could have the freedom to do nothing all day
they probably weren't as boring as u think in fact d activities u said they do r interesting as they might have been more talented at it than most modern day kids, but def. not all .

plus, its wat u view as boring. i bet some grandparents think d internet is boring
we were busy enjoying our childhood instead of doing dope, getting laid, worrying about being a sheep to fashion, trying to be cool like all the other losers, and in general acting like today's entitled spoiled brats.
Hmm lets see.....No television, no computer, no cellphones, no gadgets, a lot less drug use, Gee... maybe they were using what they had available yeah?
Because they were and still are little kids.

Don't be in such a hurry to grow up. Enjoy life.
because that is alot more fun than pressing buttons on a cell phone all day
is that really a fair question.?.. back then they didnt have phones, internet, tv the way you have it.... what else do you want them to do?

Do Australian teenagers stay virgin until they get married?

Do Australian teenagers stay virgin until they get married?

I know that cultural and traditional things and beliefs always have a big impact on the way that certain group of people live. However this question is always interesting to me.

Do Australian teenagers stay virgin until they get married??

Since teenagers in other places in the world choose different types of life, I was wondering what a teenage Australian would choose??

Staying virging untill marriage?? Or choosing otherwise???

Please tell me how many percent choose to stay virgin and how many percent choose not to do that??Do Australian teenagers stay virgin until they get married?
Well im a teenager and most the ppl in my class have already or i am sure will have sex some at the age of 13. I think the 'new age' don't really believe in tradition as much as they used too Mostly due to seeing Sexual orientated material when they walk down the street which is fine imo because sex is a part of life. I would say 70% probably will do it before they get married, Me included. :)

Oh im 15 and from Australia too :)

Hope i helped :)Do Australian teenagers stay virgin until they get married?
Australia doesn't have just one culture or religion.

We are one of the most multicultural countries on the planet, with many people living here who come from other countries. There are many different religions, belief systems and cultures living within our country, each with a different view on virginity.

So basically you can't generalise the entire country in terms of what they believe. For example I myself am not religious, nor do I believe in waiting for marriage to have sex. Many of my friends feel the same way. While I also know other people who want to wait until marriage.

So there is no definitive yes or no answer, it varies from person to person, just as it does in many other countries of the world.
Hi my family is full of Austrailian teenagers and I must say they are no different than any other American teenagers (TRUST ME)! Yes they have cultural and traditional beliefs related to their Christianity Principles where it is a sin to lose your virginity before marriage. But so many Austrailian teenagers continue to do what they please.
No, there is a growing rate of teenagers loosing there virginity before grade 11!
    depends what they want

    Teenagers!!!!!!!!!!!?

My 16 yr.old son wants one of his ears pierced! I mean should I or not? Does anyone have a suggestions?Teenagers!!!!!!!!!!!?
I don't think this could be one of the worst things that your son could ask for. He's 16, he could be asking for a lot worse at that age. At least if he ever decides he doesn't like it anymore, he can take it out and it will heal up.

I have two lip piercings and I got them done when I was 14. I still have them today, I'm 21. I haven't grown out of them, I still like them, and I'm sure the day will come when I will take them out, but that didn't stop me from getting it done. Life is too short to be concerned over a hole in the skin.

My parents let me get it done, and I appreciate them all the more for it. They let me make a decision, which made me feel really grown up at the time.

Don't worry, your son isn't trying to rebel against you. If he was, he would have gotten it along time ago without asking.

I wasn't trying to rebel against my parents, I simply wanted to get my lip pierced (twice) because I liked the way it looked.Teenagers!!!!!!!!!!!?
my husband of 22 years remembers going on a band trip in high school and sitting down in the chair to get his ear pierced. then, a very vivid picture of his dad yanking the ear ring out of his ear raced through his mind. lol. he didn't get his ear pierced. i can honestly say i would tell my 13 year old son, ';no';. as would my husband. we both stick together on the ';my house, my rules';.
best parenting advice is to not try so hard, dont give vague punishments, set specific ones to the problem to see how your kids deal with it, make them think. let him get his ears pierced but make sure he knows how to take care of it and what it will look like if he doesnt and it gets infected, ive seen those pictures theyre gross
honestly, an ear peircing isnt that bad; he can always take it out. But, ultimatly, it is your call. If you think it is appropiate, then allow it, and if not, then tell him no. But they are not bad, and it is very common today to see teenage boys with ear peircings.
    Uggg...if you're really against him having one, tell him to wait until he's 18......but, you will be ';THE MEANEST MOM EVER!!!'; and ';WON'T UNDERSTAND HIM AT ALL!!!';

but, such is our lot as mothers.

P.S. Show him what a ';dweeb'; Harrison Ford looks like w/ his earing on in his 60's. Love Harrison.....Hate the Earring...
Well I'm 15 and I got a lip ring, but it doesn't make you a bad parent or anything, my mom thought I would get to the piercing place and chicken out....but I didn't....but who knows maybe he won't go through with it.

    But its not that bad.

    :)

    Good Luck.
Eh, an ear piercing isn't that bad - I know a lot of guys who have one. (No, they're not gay.)

At least he's not asking for a lip ring.

If he's been good or something, I guess go ahead? Ear piercings won't scar up as badly, I'm sure.
i wouldnt let him.. your not suspose to pierce anything because your body is a holy temple for God...your not suspose to change it.. even though i did it when i was younger i dont wear them anymore... kinda wish i didn't do it though
It's not the rebel thing it once was. Unless you have really strong objections, let him. Tell him it hurts and will get infected easily if you want to discourage him.
    If he really wants one and is prepared to care for it properly, then I'd probably say yes. But I would say no if he just wanted it to ';fit in'; or ';be cool.';
i think you should let him do it. it doesn't come with the same stigma as it did a while back. just make sure he takes care of it :P
There are much worse things he could ask for then his ear pierced alot of guys have it. Pick your battles.
I am not a big fan of ear ring for guys. I have 2 sons and told them that I would yank it out if I ever see them with ear rings.
Piercing can at least heal but I don't like it. But if you cave on this then what else will you.. but then if you say no then will he rebel in other ways?
my butt cheeks are pierced together.
let him. jeez... its just his ear. my mom let me get my nose pierced...
my brother is only 12 and he has his ear pierced...ask your son if this is what he really wants, because once its done, there is no going back in time
Its not that bad, ive seen many people with piercings that are boys.
It is only an ear. It will grow back..make a deal. let him do the ear and PROMISE he will not get tats or further piercings until he is 21.
You should let him. He will owe you one and he won't have his friends pierce it for him behind your back.
A hole will always heal up. Just make sure he knows that he needs to keep it clean so it doesn't get infected.
Let him do it. there is a lot more he could pierce or tatoo, so go with this one with an understanding that this is it.
well it really depends on his looks. but i would say yess i pierced my boyfriends ear and he looks really cute
He is old enough to know whats best for him.

  • To born-Muslim teenagers raised in a western environment, would you choose Islam if you're not born a Muslim?

That is if you were not born from Muslim parents, and being exposed to different religions and culture, would you still want to be a Muslim and practice it? Why or why not?To born-Muslim teenagers raised in a western environment, would you choose Islam if you're not born a Muslim?
i was born and raised in Southern California

and i was born muslim (alhamdulilah)

i love learning about different religions.

but of course i would convert!

the religion of Islam is flawles.

';This is the Book (the Qur'ân), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqûn [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allâh much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allâh much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)].'; [Qur'an 2: 2]To born-Muslim teenagers raised in a western environment, would you choose Islam if you're not born a Muslim?
Well, I was born and raised in the UK, but over here, the Non-Muslims don't learn all that much about Islam from their Muslim peers. Most of them may know the basics about Islam, like the praying 5 times a day or not eating pork but they wouldn't know much about the Quran.

I think that in order to convert to Islam, the Non-Muslim probably read the Quran and found out about Islam in more detail in order to want to convert to it.

I probably wouldn't have done all that and would've probably had remained a Non-Muslim which is lucky that I was born a Muslim.

    Hi!

Well I am a teenager who was born and raised in U.S.A., then moved to Sri Lanka for a year, and am now in Malaysia. Basically, I'm an expat. I'm not sure if this really applies to me, but I'll answer it anyway.

I think it would greatly rely on what religion i 'was' born into, and how i was brought up in that religion. For example, if I had been raised as a devout Christian, I probably would follow Christianity, because that's how I would have been molded. But let's say I was raised without a religion. Knowing myself, I would have been curious about religions. I would probably have experimented with most of the religions and stuck with the one that 'felt' right.

But see, the thing is, the reason I'm a Muslim is because of the way I was brought up. I mean, don't get me wrong, I believe in Islam. But if I had no prior knowledge of my religion, I'm not sure I would follow it.

So like yeah, I hope I answered your question.

    :)
    yeah of course

i,m 15 and born-muslim alhamdulila and i lived in canada for most of my life, i even wore the hijab there

and if i wasnt born a muslim, if sum1 tells me about it (like wat it really is...not the lies they hear everywher) i wud definately convert

for many reasons and one of them is cuz it makes sense and is truly like a complete religion_another reason is the quran (duh)
Yup, because, I am currently doing lots of religious research - which I would be doing even if I wasn't Muslim (because I like religions and am interested in them) and eventually, I would find Islam, and the Qur'an, thereby converting because the religion is so beautiful.
According to Islam all children are born Muslim. the choice of faith is not an accident of birth but a conscious choice. If you believe in islam then Quran is the foundation of faith and the Quran says about it '; This indeed is a message beyond doubt';.
I was born in the UK, as a Sikh - I really never believed in God, until recently. When I decided, I'm going to convert after a Muslim boy of my age (15) taught me a few things, and now I just feel it happening - I actually believe in God (Allah).
No because it is an arcane law based religion that is a total fairy tale. Islam is cruel and intolerant and it has no place in the modern world

i would because islam seems the most logical. no twists no turns. one god no one has seen before and the messenger of allah, muhammad (s.a.w). the most logical if u really think about it.
Yes, i would chose!! because Islam answered all my questions, which i had about this Universal %26amp; Creature!!
    YES i will chose islam.

Many people have a misconception that Islam is a new religion and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the founder of Islam. However, let me clarify that Islam is not the name of some unique religion presented for the first time by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who should, on that account be called the founder of Islam.

The Qur’an states that Islam – the complete submission of man before his one and only Unique Creator – is the one and only faith and way of life consistently revealed by God to humankind from the very beginning. Noah, Solomon, David, Abraham, Moses, Isaac and Jesus (pbuh) – prophets who appeared at different times and places – all propagated the same faith and conveyed the same message of Tawheed (Oneness of God), Risaalat (Prophethood) and Aakhirah (the Hereafter).

These prophets of God were not founders of different religions to be named after them. They were each reiterating the message and faith of their predecessors.

However, Muhammad (pbuh) was the last Prophet of God. God revived through him the same genuine faith which had been conveyed by all His Prophets. This original message was earlier corrupted and split into various religions by people of different ages, who indulged in interpolations and admixture. These alien elements were eliminated by God, and Islam – in its pure and original form – was transmitted to humankind through Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Since there was to be no messenger after Muhammad (pbuh), the Book revealed to him (i.e. the Glorious Qur’an) was preserved word for word so that it should be a source of guidance for all times.

Thus the religion of all the prophets was ‘total submission to God’s will’ and one word for that in the Arabic language is ‘Islam’. Abraham and Jesus (peace be upon them) too were Muslims, as Allah testifies in Al-Qur'an 3:67 and 3:52 respectively.

Islam is embraced by so many humans in all centuries because it is the Truth and it provides practical and comprehensive solutions to problems of humankind. Islam not only teaches good things but also shows practical ways of achieving that state of goodness.

Your surprise regarding many people embracing Islam is justified. Today, though Islam happens to be the fastest growing religion in the world, it also happens to be the religion about which people have maximum number of misconceptions. This is largely because of the virulent propaganda by the media about Islam.

A Christian surveyor, Professor Edward reported in the Time Magazine of April 16, 1979 that in a span of 150 years, from 1800 CE to 1950 CE “over 60,000 books have been written against Islam by the Christian West.” Now, it is questionable, who has initiated, nurtured and collected the hatred which you have referred to, the Muslims or the Christian West?

Many are surprised that despite such propaganda being made against Islam, it still happens to be the fastest growing religion in today’s times. It is so, on the merits of its superior and noble teachings. Says Allah swt in the Glorious Qur'an:

“They (the non-Muslim enemies and critics of Islam) plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah”.

    (Al-Qur'an 8:30)

The terrorist acts attributed to Muslim suspects, should not be attributed to Islam or the Muslims in general but to individual human weaknesses. Such human failings occur among all religious and ethnic groups. Recorded history has not witnessed an incident similar to the ‘Holocaust’. However, one is not expected to and should not attribute the holocaust to Christianity or to Christians in general.

Opinion of historian De Lacy O’Leary.

The best reply to the misconception that Islam was spread by the sword is given by the noted historian De Lacy O’Leary in the book ';Islam at the cross road'; (Page 8):

    ';History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myth that historians have ever repeated.';

    4. Muslims ruled Spain for 800 years.

Muslims ruled Spain for about 800 years. The Muslims in Spain never used the sword to force the people to convert. Later the Christian Crusaders came to Spain and wiped out the Muslims. There was not a single Muslim in Spain who could openly give the adhan, that is the call for prayers.

    5. 14 million Arabs are Coptic Christians.

Muslims were the lords of Arabia for 1400 years. For a few years the British ruled, and for a few years the French ruled. Overall, the Muslims ruled Arabia for 1400 years. Yet today, there are 14 million Arabs who are Coptic Christians i.e. Christians since generations. If the Muslims had used the sword there would not have been a single Arab who would have remained a Christian.

    6. More than 80% non-Muslims in India.

The Muslims ruled India for about a thousand years. If they wanted, they had the power of converting each and every non-Muslim of India to Islam. Today more than 80% of the population of India are non-Muslims. All these non-Muslim Indians are bearing witness today that Islam was not spread by the sword.

    7. Indonesia and Malaysia.

    Indonesia is a country that has the maximum number of Muslims in the world. The majority of people in Malaysia are Muslims. May one ask, ';Which Muslim army went to Indonesia and Malaysia?';

    8. East Coast of Africa.

    Similarly, Islam has spread rapidly on the East Coast of Africa. One may again ask, if Islam was spread by the sword, ';Which Muslim army went to the East Coast of Africa?';

    9. Thomas Carlyle.

    The famous historian, Thomas Carlyle, in his book ';Heroes and Hero worship';, refers to this misconception about the spread of Islam: ';The sword indeed, but where will you get your sword? Every new opinion, at its starting is precisely in a minority of one. In one man’s head alone. There it dwells as yet. One man alone of the whole world believes it, there is one man against all men. That he takes a sword and try to propagate with that, will do little for him. You must get your sword! On the whole, a thing will propagate itself as it can.';

    10. No compulsion in religion.

With which sword was Islam spread? Even if Muslims had it they could not use it to spread Islam because the Qur’an says in the following verse:

';Let there be no compulsion in religion:

    Truth stands out clear from error';

    [Al-Qur’an 2:256]

    11. Sword of the Intellect.

It is the sword of intellect. The sword that conquers the hearts and minds of people. The Qur’an says in Surah Nahl, chapter 16 verse 125:

';Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord

    with wisdom and beautiful preaching;

and argue with them in ways that are

    best and most gracious.';

    [Al-Qur’an 16:125]

    12. Increase in the world religions from 1934 to 1984.

An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, year book 1986, gave the statistics of the increase of percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in ‘The Plain Truth’ magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235%, and Christianity had increased only by 47%. May one ask, which war took place in this century which converted millions of people to Islam?

    13. Islam is the fastest growing religion in America and Europe.

Today the fastest growing religion in America is Islam. The fastest growing religion in Europe in Islam. Which sword is forcing people in the West to accept Islam in such large numbers?

    14. Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson.

Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson rightly says, ';People who worry that nuclear weaponry will one day fall in the hands of the Arabs, fail to realize that the Islamic bomb has been dropped already, it fell the day MUHAMMED (pbuh) was born';.

I might go to taiwan and learn but i need to know what they do for fun. i looked it up but i cant find much. plz help! What do Taiwan teenagers do for fun today?
Most teenager will go to KTV(karaoke) for fun. You need to try it. It's very different that you have in States. Moreover, you should go to the night market. The good one is called: Shihlin Night Market which is in Taipei. The website is good for you. Good luck and have a nice trip. http://letsgo.taipei-elife.net/english/What do Taiwan teenagers do for fun today?
i don't think we taiwan teenagers are any different from teenagers elsewhere in the world.

we surf the net, watch tv, play games, eat with friends, etc. just like you do. i visited the US once and what they did was pretty much like what we do (but yes, they were asian americans).

Do you think teenagers are portrayed fairly by the media?

I need some feedback for an essay. Let me know your thoughts.Do you think teenagers are portrayed fairly by the media?
Probably not. It's a little difficult to get a fair reading on those under 18, because often times they don't express themselves well in interview situations. So it's easy to depend on statistics, which can lead to stereotypes, which can lead to problems.Do you think teenagers are portrayed fairly by the media?
Teenagers portrayed like monkeys to be studied by media. Confusion easily understood. Media are alien agents of Inner Space/Control, teenagers are youth/Outer World, must seem threatening and strange to living-dead in media...
only when they are shown drinking/using drugs, promoting violence and having sex
Yes, all teenagers are drug addicts, right? Well at least I was

Does anyone know places that will help improve your artistic skill? Like a training session for teenagers?

Any art programs or classes near by in Torrance, CA. that would be nice to find some. I know a few. but I want to search a little more.Does anyone know places that will help improve your artistic skill? Like a training session for teenagers?
did you check out craigs list? maybe there are local studios offering classes (make sure the listings are legit tho) also, maybe you could find a talented student from a local university to be your private instructor; email a college professor from a local U and see if s/he can reccomend someone to you. sometimes its nice to take art classes with adults too, because then I think you are more challenged that way. Also, if you are close to some art museums, you should check them out to see if they offer art classes for teens or adults. (seriously-- don't just look for art classes for teens, lots of adult classes will let you join as long as they know you are mature enough to handle an adult class). I would also suggest maybe volunteering at a local art museum/ going to lots of art galleries, and making lots of connections in the process. Sometimes you'll meet great mentors that way who are willing to give you a discount on classes. Good luck! :DDoes anyone know places that will help improve your artistic skill? Like a training session for teenagers?
Check in with your local art alliances and art museums-they usually offer classes.

Also many times the city college system and park and rec offer classes thru their summer programs.

The art alliances might give you indiviual, local artists that teach also.
I would suggest Los Feliz Life drawing workshop, it is the closest I know to Torrence, CA

Do you think teenagers think they know more then they really do?

Also, whats up with parents allowing their 15 year olds to dress so slutty? Always cleavage! And putting on so much make up? I am only 27 and when I was 16 my Dad will have killed me if I dressed that way.Do you think teenagers think they know more then they really do?
I am a teenager and I agree that we all think we know more than we really do. But then again, so do adults. Adults just have more life experiance.

And I have no idea what's going on with young teenage and preteen girls these days... I'm still trying to figure it out myself.Do you think teenagers think they know more then they really do?
i dk i guess they r just having fun living life if i could go back i wouldow done the same lol..
Yes, they think they know way more that they really do. They usually figure that out as they get older though. I'm glad my teenagers are boys, they never dress slutty, thank god.
Wow, I'm 15 and the only make up thing I have is a lipbalm and a 1'; above the knee skirt.

Makeup and slutty clothes are so darn expensive for such little things!

Welcome to the world of underground prostitutes.

Slutty dressing? For attracting guys. (Lust)

Make up? To cover their uglinest. (Deceive)

Have they ever thought of natural beauty?

Parents nowadays don't really care. Teens are getting rebelious.
yes they do! back in the day when there was hardly any technology kids weren't as spoiled. they had to play with sticks and jacks. they had to make their own toys, and they appreciated a lot more.all this technology has spoiled kids. they come out of the womb with a smart mouth and thinking they can do whatever they want.
Of course they think they know more than they do. Looking back, I say, ';Wow, I was an idiot!'; This even happens when you turn 25, 30, 35. If you aren't getting smarter, then what have you been doing with your life? I would have never admitted that I didn't know what I thought I knew when I was a teenager... it is a part of growing up.
They all think that they are adults and think they are allowed to do whatever they want even if their parents don't allow it.
I think parents are too busy chasing the almighty dollar so they can buy and maintain a house that's 3x bigger than what they really need to actually deal with their kids anymore. Just my opinion.
my dad would kill me if I dressed like that at any age.....i'm 13

p.s. I DO NOT THINK I KNOW EVERYTHING....AND WEARING A LITTLE BIT OF EYESHADOW IS OKAY!
I AGREE! What is up with that? I am 21 and thank god my 16 year old sister doesnt dress like that. I think it is ridiculous what parents let their kids wear now a days. And the smoking and drinking at the age of 13 and 14. What is that about? Parents have no control of their children anymore... and it makes me sick!
    Well I don't.

    And that's good to know...
OMG I am so glad you asked. I am an old lady of 57 years old and I decided since I am so old and had my breast reduced due to allot of weight loss I was really shocked when my 15 year old said to me Ma do you think you could start wearing a bra. Ship I thought who really cares at this age... Oh boy am I silly. Then one day he says to me do you think maybe you could talk about our relatives in private instead of when my friends are in the car....This kid is brilliant and that is my problem. I respect this kid more than I do myself I guess. He is so darn smart.
Hey! I'm 14 and I will admit, I do wear alot of makeup. I do not however, think i know alot more than i really do. I normally just wear jeans, a nice t-shirt, and do my hair nice. For make up I wear eye liner, eye shadow, mascara, lipgloss, blush, and coverup/foundation. I am allowed to wear this. My parents don't really care how I dress in the morning because we are all 1/2 asleep but when I come home, they are like ';what is with that make-up?';. I only wear it because of the boys!
    Oh get over it.
    Yes I do think that.

And there is a term for teen girls dressing like that:

Prostitots. (Tots being short for toddler for those that didnt get it).
I am 15 and yes I think teenagers think they know a lot. They act like they are so smart and dont listen to adults when adults have so much more experience. This is not true for all teens though. Also, some girls do dress way to slutty. I guess their parents just dont care. Thats probably why they want the attention from guys.
Hey, that's not totally true. Yes, some teen grow up too fast. Don't blame the teen, blame the parent. I am only 15yrs old. My parents would kill me if i wore slutty clothes/too much make up. We don't know anything, which would = why we have parents. They are there to steer the kids in the right direction. Blame the parents, not the teens.

Also, depending on how old you are (mid 40s whatever), times have changed. We now wear makeup. We have boyfriends. Have sex before marriage. We wear undecent clothes sometimes. Big deal. Times are different now.
Of course teenagers think they know more than they do. All current generations think they know more than the one before them.

I am reminded I was an idiot when I was a teen each day. I am always discovering things I was totally wrong about back then.
most definitely i know way more then my parents think i do and the thing about the dressing idk personally i think they just put it on and many parents work around 10 or something so they might be at work keep when the kid leaves and not home when they get there so parents would never know
haha i feel that way and im 15

most people in my grade try to act more ';grown up'; then they really are , im in no hurry to grow up

can anyone help with my question (its not showing up ) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ar98pScbz3jdxgr6fDkA1JHsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071116171126AAbSO9P
    I do not and I am 15.

And with makeup I think less does more

are you saying you are going to kill your child because that is against the law

Although I am okay with the slutty dressing well maybe just the cleavage

  • Are all teenagers narcissists? How do you cure narcissism?

Also, what are the signs for having antisocial personality disorder? Are all teenagers narcissists? How do you cure narcissism?
I don't know if all teen-agers are narcissists but the signs of anti-social personality disorder are: deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure, impulsivity or failure to plan ahead, irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults, reckless disregard for the safety of self or others, consistent irresponsibility as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations and lack of remorse, ad indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated or stolen from another. Are all teenagers narcissists? How do you cure narcissism?
All the answers so far have taken your questions without context. I am guessing that you are the parent of a teenager about whose modus operandi you are concerned.

If you have any parental control left over this young person, then you can prevail on him or her to go and see the school counsellor. I suggest this as the first attack because school counsellors have seen the whole range of behaviours of teenagers.

If on the other hand your young person is really independent and won't take advice from you (typical) you can handle the behaviour you don't like in an adult fashion.

This would mean, for example, ignoring unwanted behaviours. There are tons of books on this stuff, so do some research.

From personal experience of a husband and his father, both narcissistic personality disorders, you can't cure narcissism, the best you can do is avoid them.

    Hope this helps

    Go well
Everyone is a narcissist. Philosophically speaking. We are selfish one way or another.

There is no cure for narcissism or antisocial personality disorder, the main focus is to control these disorders.

    People with Anti-social personality disorder are what you would call ';sociopaths';

Men have Antisocial personality more than women.

    Lack of remorse.

    No conscious.

    Abuse of drugs, alcohol,

Alot of no strings attached sex.

    Manipulative.

    Blames others for their mistakes.

    Charming, superficial personality.

    criminal intentions, criminal behavior.

    Cold, callous personality.

    Lack of empathy.
NO, and you can't, and they are conduct disorder kids and usually harm animals and that is what most serial killers are-they have no conscience or emotions accept for themselves. That sums up about 6 years of college!

I am a provisionally licensed mental health practitioner and licensed alcohol and drug addicitions counselor in the US.
    I want to congratulate you on your choice of questions. Ordinarily I write a warning to askers saying something like ';We're all amateurs and volunteers here.';

You have managed to ask a question that has aroused articulate and accurate professionals. THey are quoting reliable sources.

I hope that you are able to accept their opinions.

Kudos to you and your respondents.
    No, not all teenagers are.

And how do u cure it? Seeing a therapist. But the narcisist in question wont realize he/she has an issue... meaning that they probably wont go.

What are some good tips for cleaning a teenagers bedroom, that looks like a bomb!?

Please Help! What are some good tips for cleaning a teenagers bedroom, that looks like a bomb!?
When I was a teen and shared a room with my sister, my parent's used to say it smelled like a boys locker room and it probably did. One time my mom tried cleaning my room without my permission and I felt violated. We discussed it, and she never did that again. Every once in a while on a Saturday morning the family would have a cleaning day. My mom would call us out of bed or my dad would play the trumpet with his voice in his fist to the tune of the soldier's wake up call. I was cranky then, but looking back it was kind of funny. We listened to music while we cleaned and before we knew it we were being silly and having a good time. Make it fun. Use a little reverse psychology. For most of my high school career I lived in my own clutter. My dad used to say our room was like artwork.

I suggest definitely letting your teen clean their own room.

You can show them how to dust and vacuum, but they should put their own stuff away. By 16, I was washing my own clothes. This will give them the sense that they are a part of maintaining the responsibilities of the home. What are some good tips for cleaning a teenagers bedroom, that looks like a bomb!?
If you stand behind them with a belt then things really seem to cleanup pretty quick. In addition, it's very easy on the back.
tell the teen only once to get it clean (CLEAN) or you'll do it.

when you do it you leave 3 shirts, 3 pants, 3 pair of socks and undies on the bed that you make. everything (EVERYTHING) else goes to the trash.

chances are that you purchased that trash so you can do as you darn well please with it. once that teen has a job and can support her/himself then it's up to her/him to keep it - unless it's trashing your (YOUR) home. then you get to trash the trash.

food, shelter, and clothing is all that HAS to be provided. if the teen doesn't like it , then keep it clean. (to mom's standards because it's mom's house!)
try kim and aggie on link below they always do this type of thing on their show.
I think you have gotten really great answers though I would give him a time limit ...say : you have until the end of the weekend to have your room clean, if you don't do it ,I will and you won't like it. I think taking away all his game controllers is a great idea, I did this with my youngest boy. My older two boys were such slobs that they usually did a ';Not so great job'; and I still had to clean it but they helped. It was just too overwhelming , they didn't know where to start. And they also did their own laundry. I was so fed up with the laundry ';search'; every weekend that I bought each one their own hampers. If it wasn't in the hamper it didn't get washed, they were up early many mornings washing their own clothes before school because they wanted their favorite jeans (that didn't make it in the hamper). Good Luck
1.Take a garbage bag, walk through and bag all garbage, set bag in the hall until you are done.

    2. Pick up all clothing, dirty into a pile in the hall for washing, clean, hang it up, or fold and put in drawers.

3.Strip the bed and make up with clean linens (the made up bed makes the room look almost clean, because of its size).

Put the laundry in the hall on the laundry pile.

4.Sort the laundry, jeans in one load, colors in one load, whites in one load. Let the laundry wash while you are working.

5.Begin wiping all shelves with a damp cloth and furn. polish and replace things that are not trash, place trash in bag. Do all shelves and surfaces.

6.Vacuum or sweep and mop floors. Make sure under the bed is swept out and any trash is disposed of. Clothing in the laundry, shoes in the closet.

7.Hang and fold your clothing directly from the dryer and put it away.

8.Take the bag of trash to the outside trash can.

    **********THAT SHOULD DO IT***********
tell them they cant go any where or do any thing or use the phone or cell phone until room is clean no matter how long it takes. and u have to stick to what u say
OMG, I'm laughing here! I just went through this with my 16 year old son! I took the power cords to his gaming stuff and told him I had to be able to get a Fire Marshall's approval before I returned them to him! He knew I wasn't serious but decided that it was pretty bad, especially while cleaning it he found some cat poop in a pile of what was supposed to be clean laundry in the corner of his room!

What I usually do when his room gets bad is tell him he has to work for one hour straight and make progress, like two bags of trash and complete an entire load of laundry (wash, dry, fold %26amp; put away), then he's allowed an hour of gaming time, then another hour of cleaning, and so on. By dinner time, his room is done and he's happy because he can spend up till bed time playing games.

Hope this helps you and your teen!
i won't let my daughter go out until she clean her bedroom .
Close your eyes and shut the door. Works for me. I gave up on my girls after a few yrs. They are both grown, and the oldest is a neat freak. She is going through it with her pre-teen. I keep telling her, shut the door. She still doesn't listen.

Where do teenagers get summer jobs these days?

Ok I'm in my last day of school as I type this (woot!) I need a summer job now.

Where can I work and who do you think will hire in this recession?

I've already applied to all local grocery stores and Menard's.Where do teenagers get summer jobs these days?
just play Oblivion all summer, it is what all true warriors strive for

Try something like avon if you're old enough. Put an ad out to babysit, housesit, pet sit. If you're in the city walk dogs or wash cars.

What is true love; do teenagers really understand wht itis all about?

I'm trying to prove that teenagers, even if they do understand the concept of true love, they aren't mature enough to deal with the responsibilities of being in loveWhat is true love; do teenagers really understand wht itis all about?
Hey, I completely understand your skepticism on whether teenagers can really be in love, I'm 14 myself, and I probably would have thought the same way some time ago. But I've come to see that there are plenty of adults even that do not understand love. I honestly believe it has nothing to do with a person's age, but their experiences. I could explain to you that I really am in love with one person, but unless you've felt the same way for someone yourself, you probably wouldn't take my explanation seriously. I think Steve Carell's character in the movie ';Dan, In Real Life'; really sums it up when he expresses that, ';Love isn't a feeling, it's an ability.'; Let me also say that I'm a completely logical and realistic person so I typically role my eyes at many my age who claim they're 'in love' but, it can be real for some people even at this age. Give us a little credit, please. :)

Oh, and I'm not talking about loyalty or commitment, I am purely referring to love in this response. What is true love; do teenagers really understand wht itis all about?
I never really thought of it as an age thing. It's true, most teenagers probably don't have the mental capacity or maturity to handle being in love, but that doesn't eliminate all teenagers, I think. Just look at those people who marry their highschool sweetheart and stay together for 20+ years (rare, but they're there).

I think what it is, is that we teenagers confuse infatuation for love, and so we call it as such. So *shrugs* that's all I got.
I thought, when I was a teen, that I knew what love was. Now, at 47, I realize that I had no concept of real love until I was in my 30's.

I realize that every one is different, but I don't think most teens can handle (or should have to handle) the responsibilities and consequences of being in love.

    Just my opinion.
Oh my goodness. Dear, everyone thinks that teenagers have no idea what theyre doing and cant handle a serious relationship and all of that. Id like to point out something. Dont High School Sweethearts who get married have a serious relationship WHILE THEYRE TEENS? Most teenagers are immature and are just looking for a little bit of ';action';. However, some are serious about being in relationships with people. Im currently in a relationship with a guy that I know is the one. Weve been dating for 4 and a half months, and both of us know that we want to be with eachother for the rest of our lives. Now, we are both more mature than others, which helps our seriousness, if thats a word. Anyways, Im somewhat offended by the fact that adults believe that teenagers do not know what theyre doing and cant handle a serious relationship. But some of us can. :]
I don't believe that teenagers have the life experiences under their belts yet to fully fathom ';true love'; and the responsibilities that come with it. I say this as someone who was a teenager once, and is now in their mid-thirties with teenage kids of my own.
I would not go confining this to teenagers.

I have know adults who have no idea.

I have also know adults (males) who let a lady come along and under the umbrella of love, she will take total control of his life.
Age has nothing to do with ones understanding of true love. It all lies in maturity and perspective.
it really depends on people. Some teens really love with their hearts but some don't.

Adults, why are there people out there still cheat on their partners?
I'm so agree with you and belive me or not teenagers love never last!
I certainly didn't! You gotta play the field

What are some restrictions for teenagers?

and Are too many or too few restrictions put on teenagers? What are some restrictions for teenagers?
Do people not realize restrictions pressure teens to be more rebellious?

    Examples:

Curfews are pointless, and many I've heard of are unfair.

    1. Kids are not going to listen to your curfew.

    2. Is it fair to have the same curfew for when you're out with your boyfriend, and when you're studying at your friend's house? I think not.

SUGGESTIONS on when to come home should be given on a case to case basis.

    Homework.

Parents, do not tell your kids to do their homework.

    It is THEIR responsibility.

    Same with ';bedtime.';

Let your kids go to bed whenever they wish.

If they don't get enough sleep, too bad for them!

Some people don't need as much sleep as others.

    Electronic restrictions are also ridiculous.

What is wrong with leisure time on the computer or gaming system?

It's entertainment. Let them be entertained.

Remember, restrictions will vanish after kids start living on their own. Too much freedom will come to them too fast.

Letting them do their own thing early will help them later in life.

What are some restrictions for teenagers?
Usually teenagers like freedom. If you put too much restrictions on them they end up getting worse, but if you don't put restrictions on them some of them also get really wild. What my parents did is just let us do what we wanted, but also talked to us about the possible consequences for the actions that we are doing. I think that if you just talked to teenagers and just kinda give them a warning, they will have their own limitations on themselves. Everyone knows their limitatiosn, its just sometimes they forget about it.
    - Can't enter into a contract until you're 18

    - Can't vote until you're 18

    - Can't register to vote until you're 18

    - Can't stay up past curfew (laws vary based on jurisdiction).

    - Can't drink alcohol (laws vary)

    - Can't smoke until you're 18.

    - Can't purchase lewd material until you're 18.

    - Can't run for president until you're 35.

    - Can't get a job until your 14 (or older -- laws vary).

    - Can't get married (laws vary by state).

    - Can't be tried as an adult (laws vary by state).

    - Can't join the military until you're 18.

    - Can't be drafted into war until you're 18.

    - Can't run for public office until you're 18 (laws vary by office).

    Those restrictions are pretty reasonable.
No TV after a certain time, there needs to be a curfew, homework needs to be done on Friday after school not on Sunday at night, there is a reasonable bedtime, chores.

That's just to name a few, lol.

I don't think kids have enough restrictions/rules these days.
make a curfew but not to early like around 11 or 11 30. teenagers purposely do more bad things when theyy have more restrictionsJust to make there parents mad so don't
when i was a teenagers it was it was too many .

    now

i feel it is too few restriction .

A curfew like midnight or 1am depending on the teens age.

Helping around the house, doing their school work properly.
    NO talking between certain hours!

    giv em lots of points

Do you think Gossip Girl is a bad example for high school teenagers?

Just concerned that this show about teenagers is a little indulgent and inappropriate for young adults.Do you think Gossip Girl is a bad example for high school teenagers?
Well one I think most teens are already exposed to that stuff. Second, if they let a television show influence their real life decisions they deserve what the get. Third, how many teens can actually relate to Gossip Girl? It's about a bunch of rich kids in NYC? How many kids can relate to that?Do you think Gossip Girl is a bad example for high school teenagers?
No worse than anything else on TV aimed at that age group.

TV is not meant to set an example. The parents need to take a more proactive role in rearing their children, and stop letting the TV do it.
I think that teens are already exposed to all that stuff on the show. However i dont watch it because i find it very explicit and stupid.
    YES YES and more YES
No I think everything is like that on tv.
most tv shows are bad for kids to watch...lol...!

any suggestion regarding a specific group and religion would help, preferably something i could easily get information on.Can you suggest a paper topic for the spirituality/ religious practices of teenagers for a ten page paper?
How about atheism, it's the largest growing group.

You could talk about why teenagers rebel against what their parents tell them to believe.

Otherwise you could do something really foreign and small, like in Africa, there's a lot of different religions throughout the countries. It would be cool if you did that. Can you suggest a paper topic for the spirituality/ religious practices of teenagers for a ten page paper?
Maybe something on the subject of why so many teenagers are disowning their religion these days?
How about the prevalence of Occult beliefs among people aged 14-21

yes but this is what my english teacher did, she let us decide on our thesis and we had to prove it. ask them to make up their own arguement and prove it

google lonely or depressed teenagers. Honest, i'm not kidding.
yahoo answers. Nice way to get rid of your worries. In fact even i tried finding a site like this but most of them are not worth trying. Half-baked information, which really doesn't solve the purpose. You could try finding you level of depression by giving a search with Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and try solving some puzzles to know your level of depression. That may be a time pass. Apart from that there are many sites, which will help you know your level of depression through their questionnaires. But again we want a solution not any quantitative analysis to our problems and i am sorry to tell you there is nobody to help you out there is net without you spending some money. Even if you find a place where they accept free questions, chances of you getting an answer, let alone a satisfying answer, is less.

So go ahead and try some way to distract yourself rather than seeking help through net. Believe me, you won't find anything satisfying.

Do you think we're quite a pretentious generation or were teenagers always like this?

You get so many douchebags who will try to make out they know loads about music and you know nothing etc, or that the way they are dressed is really different when in fact they're dressed exactly the same as everyone else. Is it just our generation that act like this or has it always been this way?Do you think we're quite a pretentious generation or were teenagers always like this?
It has always been that way.

Funny thing is (and I say this because I was a teen in the 70's) in just a few short years people will look at their old photographs and laugh at their goofy haircut or the style of their clothes....It always changes.Do you think we're quite a pretentious generation or were teenagers always like this?
That's not even as bad as it really is. (what you used as an example)

That's a really good question though, think it's one older people can answer. I'd like to know for sure. This generation is a fluke.
no. its a phase almost everyone goes through at some stage. it stops when u mature. my dad always tells me off, but my mum constantly reminds him that he did exactly the same at my age...you need to do it in order to learn from it.
i think that teenagers have always acted like that. even back in 1600s i bet teenagers were pretentious and obnoxious. its like our thing :) i'm sure most of us will grow up alright.

What is there to know about life? People always accuse us teenagers of thinking we think we know evrything?

but they think we don't know everything

    AHH,SHUT UP! YOU TEENAGERS KNOW EVERYTHING DON'T YOU?WELL,YOU DON'T KNOW S***!

LOL,is THAT what you're talking about? I know what you mean. Chill. Most of the time that you hear that,it's from people who got old without figuring out s*** for themselves,so they try to make themselves feel better by f***ing with YOU! Just keep in mind, though;every once in a while,an oldhead comes around who genuinely OBSERVED and LEARNED from his or her years. Don't dis the oldsters, except for the ones who want to bully you. What is there to know about life? People always accuse us teenagers of thinking we think we know evrything?
People won't start taking you seriously until you are at least 25 and have a job. But people start taking you more seriously when you are 30, kids or no kids, married or not.

I'm 24 and I still don't know everything about myself yet. Life is a learning curve. Even when you are 40 you will still be learning things about yourself. We have alot more options now though than most people who are in their 40s and 50s had when they were our age.

Also adolescence is a very confusing time. You do lots of stupid things. And often you do say things that make you sound like you do know everything (I've been there and done that).
    Ah...the irony ... the irony.
    live to the fullest
One thing you need to know is........the answer to your question

Why do teenage girls look for drama? They act like they hate it, but you know they want it.Teenagers??
After dating a bunch of girls I know the answer to this. Almost every single girl out there DOES have a craving for attention and they just want to feel wanted because most of them have a fear of being alone and they look at lonely peers around them and they feel as if they need to be loved every minute of every day to feel like they are truly wanted.Teenagers??

They are still trying to figure out the rules of life and what everything means.

If they have no reference on something, you can tell them anything and they'd believe it.
You better watch out and keep your mount shut. Not all teens are like that.

I am 19, got my M.A. degree, work as a full-time professor, and still make good choices by being a virgin, etc.

So it's not all of us, it's just the stupid majority.
Because thats the stage when teenagers are trying to figure themselves out. im a teenager and im still trying to figure out myself . like who my real friends are or why i act different sometimes . because sometimes i confuse myself
its bout enjoying yourself before you become an adult and as long you dont do anything bad, and you are changing.
Well being a teen is the time you start thinking how you look and about girls (or boys).

How can I get the word out to teenagers about a new company I'm starting?

advertise on the radioHow can I get the word out to teenagers about a new company I'm starting?
Well obviously more info about the company is necessary. If you're selling condoms, you don't want to put up a flyer at a church. But putting up a flyer at a church is a good idea. A good number of kids go to youth groups. Also, you may want to just get out and talk to teens. I would say go to places where your clients may hang out, almost like you're trying to hand out flyers for a concert. MAKE A MYSPACE!

    like myspace.com/companyname

and put that on your flyers. Add friends in your area who would be likely to use your service. Have them advertise to their freinds. Best way to get to teens is through teens.

  • What is your attitude towards unplanned pregnancy in teenagers? Why?

I want to know what society thinks. I personally think it is due to peer pressure that youth do such unintended things. What is your attitude towards unplanned pregnancy in teenagers? Why?
I think it is just a fact of life in today's society. Our society has embraced a more open acceptance of sexuality, which is not such a bad thing except there has been no push to encourage wise and mature decision-making to go with it. The result has been a generation of youth being bombarded with sex and no guidance on the potential consequences of it. While most teens are very well aware of the possibility of pregnancy, they tend to have the classic ';it won't happen to me'; attitude. Also, the consequences of getting pregnant are almost nil. The father can get off scott-free with no real social stigma attached as used to be the case, and the mother has all of the benefits of an accepting (lest I call it enabling) society that provides free food, free daycare, free school, and free money, with all sorts of emotional support and acceptance for the mother. While I agree that we shouldn't take it out on the baby, this open acceptance of unwise behavior only encourages it by making it approved by proxy. This is very similar to providing birth control to teens at school.

So, with a social acceptance, and frankly encouragement of promiscuous sexual behavior, no clear guidelines against teens being sexually active, and no real consequences if they get caught or kids get pregnant, then teens don't have any real pressing reason to be careful.

This idea of ';sex education'; is a joke. I'm pretty sure that all teens are very well aware that inserting a penis into a vagina and continuing until orgasm can cause pregnancy. It is a natural instinct and the world has managed to reproduce just fine without schools teaching this. Kids are also very well aware of what a condom is for, and if you can't follow the directions with accompanying drawings on how to put it on, having a teacher stand in front of the room rolling it onto a cucumber won't help clarify it. Teaching this stuff, particularly in the manner it is taught now, only makes the topic and the behavior more socially acceptable and more likely to happen. The more it happens, the more likely it is that we will have unplanned pregnancy. I was a sexually active teen, but I was very careful because I knew my family would kill me, my girlfriend's family would maim my deceased corpse, and the community would not be at all happy. What is your attitude towards unplanned pregnancy in teenagers? Why?
It's astonishing how so many teenagers still are in the dark about sex facts. The view of late has been of teenagers as being so well up on sex that they could tell you more than you could tell them, but it simply isn't true.

Exchanging bodily fluids isn't rocket science, but it's the facts of pregnancy and STI transmission where teenagers seem to be under the sway of a lot of myths.

I recall reading in a WHO report that many teenage pregnancies occur as a result of sex under the influence of alcohol, which is a growing problem.
Honestly, my opinion WAS that they are irresponsible, uneducated and often times, poor. They made bad decisions, and most likely didn't graduate from high school.

Then I became a pregnant teenager.

My opinion has changed significantly. Because I graduated from high school, I make good decisions (now), I'm not poor, I'm educated and responsible.

You may think I'm lying, but look:

    - I graduated early from high school (age 17) %26amp; shortly later found out I was pregnant.

    - it motivated me to speed up school, and before the baby came, I graduated with my 2 year college degree (associates) at age 18.

    - I worked the entire time I went to college.

    - my son came 2 weeks after I graduated, luckily he came late and not eary.. because I was taking 6 classes!!

    - I live with the dad still, and we've been together for 4 years now.

    - I now have my 4 year degree (bachelors), and my son will be 3 years old soon.

Now I think that it totally depends on the age of teen when she has the baby, because I was lucky that my pregnancy wasn't when I was as young as 14 or 15.

I think it depends on how well your parents %26amp; boyfriend decide to stick by you. I know that if my mom wasn't as supportive, or my boyfriend left, it would be a LOT bumpier road! So there is a lot of factors about it. And, my boyfriend is 5 years older then me so he was able be in the workforce, so we had (%26amp; still have) the dual-income.

Also, I had already graduated high school. Many teenagers haven't done this yet which can lead to even more difficult times... without the basic building block of education, that can cause someone to depend on the welfare system %26amp; state assistance.

When I was a teenager, I felt like pregnancy only happened to the really slinky girls that had multiple partners, went to parties to drink- smoke- and get laid.. but my stereotype was wrong! I've never been to a party, never drank, never smoked, didn't sleep around... got good grades, was even considered a ';goody-goody'; at my school.

It was very unintended %26amp; I'd agree with you a bit, sex is highly glamorized %26amp; there is a lot of peer pressure when it comes to who is still a virgin and who isn't... I'm just glad I was able to keep my crap together %26amp; continue on with my education. I love my little boy and wouldn't change it for the world!

a teen pregnancy can happen to anyone!
    Big Trouble

Especially if its my own daughter or of a near friend or relative.

Peer Pressure is a hoax. The sooner all you teenagers understand this the better.

Call it ';impulse';, Call it ';thrill';, Call it ';discovery'; Call it ';rebellion'; - but don't call it ';peer pressure'; because the final decision is always your own - and you know it.
    Sex= good.

    not teaching sex=bad

We should stop teaching kids it's bad, otherwise they'll do it more. We should just teach that it should be safe, etc. That way we cut back on epidemics and pregnancy. The worlds going to be over populated way too soon, and the only way to prevent that is with family planning.

Also, just to clear something up, I am a teenager (15) and most teenagers are pretty aware of sex and drugs and all of that stuff. I personally have known about sex since the 4th grade, so I don't think the problem is that kids don't know, it's that adults act like sex is taboo.
im 15 years old.i became pregnant at the age of 14. i think the reason we did it was because we were attracted to each other, we were very curious, and we were very sure of ourselves. we never thought i was going to get pregnant. we were both very confident, so confident we stopped using condoms. before i had gotten pregnant i never thought clearly. the moment i found out i was pregnant i realized i was going to be a mother, and the baby i was holding was not going to depend on anyone but me.

i realized i wasn't going to have a future without my education. my boyfriend of 17 dropped out and started working. i started studying, and working like crazy until i got to the point of earning straight A's. i was the perfect AP student. i was proud of myself, as a mom .

then on april the 4th of this year, i had my baby. almost 4 months too early. he was with me only 25 days, then went up to heaven.

Maybe society thinks teenage mothers are a bad thing, or are just careless, or easy. But i know i would have been a damn good mother, and i worked damn hard for my son all the time he was inside me. and it makes me feel proud to say i brought a life to this world.

now that i look back i think that maybe it was just meant to be. maybe some of us are meant to be mothers at an early age. maybe some of us have to live through these responsiblities because God chooses us to.
I think it sucks. Sure some teenagers are gonna get pregnant and probably have great, happy lives but too many are impregnated by a man who doesn't plan to take care of the family and the girls need to realize there is a difference between sex and love.
theres no such thing as unplanned pregancy

but i think part of it is pressure and part of it is because of them

you can always be pressured into trying things

but its always up to to make the final descion
I think that we should focus more on providing education on birth control as opposed to abstinence only education. If teenagers are going to be sexually active then we should attempt to make sure they are doing it safely.
