Do you think modern high school prepares teenagers for the real world?

I mean do the classes actually teach you something you'll need in the working world or just some bulls*** that you won't ever need unless you major in it.

Also what are some classes that you think would better prepare someone for life after graduationDo you think modern high school prepares teenagers for the real world?
Let's see, I was last in high school 7-8 years ago and here's what I think. Most everything you will need to have for your desired path in life will usually have to wait until college. But then again, with college becoming more expensive maybe there is going to have to be a way for more exploratory classes and extracurricular activities to become places for the teens to have credentials to work on if the day comes that more and more students are having to wait one or two years to go to college because of cost.

But for high school, there are still classes that teens should have and some the teens could do without. Essentials are English, History, Physical Education and Health, and Biological and Natural Sciences (not physics). No math after Algebra 2 (except Statistics). Anything extra should be taken if it can be applied toward college credit.Do you think modern high school prepares teenagers for the real world?
High school is not designed to prepare students for the professional world. Not even eight years of college prepared me for what was to follow. What we learn out of books is basic information that helps us cope in what you call the ';Real World.'; It is impossible to put everyday life experiences in a book because things change every year. At best, high school is suppose to prepare teens for college. Some even fail at that. I think Job Corp may do a better job in preparing young folk for the world of work.
Honestly, High School is one of the best things a teenager can go through. I honestly believe it is one of the roughest times a person can go through. Although i am still young myself, I understand now that the way education is set up is to give each child a decent understanding of every field available to spark a hidden interest they may be unaware of. The information may be useless in later life, but being able to find one's self is certainly worth it.

The best classes to take are the ones you're most interested in, because then that makes you a specialist in your particular interest, and that you know more about it than the average person.

I took tons of physical education classes, spanish classes, and history classes. And i can honestly say my senior year in high school was the best year of my life so far.
