Why were teenagers so boring back in the olden days?

like today i read that during the 1940s girls who were 14! played hopscotch and skipping rope! (how immature)

even worse i read that boys who were 16 swam in lakes, climbed trees and rose bikes - why did teens act like little kids back then? Why were teenagers so boring back in the olden days?
Probably, the main reason is that the average age of puberty was higher back then. Nowadays, we have kids reaching puberty as early as 10 and that obviously means that they will have more mature interests as teens, which will affect their behavior. Why were teenagers so boring back in the olden days?
Probably because they WERE little kids. They didn't have the media's standards to live by and they weren't being corrupted. Just like when parents today keep young kids from watching people have sex on t.v. THOSE kids are still playing hopscotch. It wasn't immature back then because thats what they knew, they didn't have video games, cars, malls, and all that to make them feel like they had to grow up faster. Teens nowadays feel like they have to grow up as fast as they can. Back then they weren't pressured like that.

And btw, why is swimming in lakes, climbing trees and riding bikes a kid thing? im 17 and me and my bf and our group of friends went to swim in a river almost every day in the summer. Its friggin fun. And wether you want to beleive it or not, many teenage boys still do that stuff with their other guy friends all the time.

I think your being arrogent. Every year kids grow up faster than the year before. And in my opinion its a bad thing. Kids at age 10 are doing things thier siblings didn't try till highschool. It's horrible. Teens need to learn how to have fun OUTSIDE as well as at party's and what not. Drinkin, partying, going to the mall, riding around are not the ONLY ways to have fun.

Open your mind a little
Because they were kids. And teens today are still kids, but much more immature than the kids of the 1940s and later. Kids then knew how to act. Teens today try to act like grownups when they really have no idea how to be grown up, and just make themselves look more immature by trying to be something they are not.
They didn't act like little kids...they acted their ages...they enjoyed the innocent things in life, and rather than trying to be adults, they enjoyed what was left of their childhood. It's better than the 'games' teens are into nowadays like 'sexting', underage drinking, drug use, etc...teens today are in a downward spiral if you ask me.
Because, unlike many teens today, we actually had some morals about us. Believe me, this out - of - control immorality that's so prevalent today is eventually going to destroy America. You make me sorry that my dad fought in a war to keep the likes of you free. And just remember that...
You mean like pushing hoops with a stick, racing box carts, and riding in jalopy's and dancing in malt shops? At least they didn't waste their time staring at tiny screens and pushing buttons all day. Don't forget all that activity made them fit to fight so we could have the freedom to do nothing all day
they probably weren't as boring as u think in fact d activities u said they do r interesting as they might have been more talented at it than most modern day kids, but def. not all .

plus, its wat u view as boring. i bet some grandparents think d internet is boring
we were busy enjoying our childhood instead of doing dope, getting laid, worrying about being a sheep to fashion, trying to be cool like all the other losers, and in general acting like today's entitled spoiled brats.
Hmm lets see.....No television, no computer, no cellphones, no gadgets, a lot less drug use, Gee... maybe they were using what they had available yeah?
Because they were and still are little kids.

Don't be in such a hurry to grow up. Enjoy life.
because that is alot more fun than pressing buttons on a cell phone all day
is that really a fair question.?.. back then they didnt have phones, internet, tv the way you have it.... what else do you want them to do?
